At Young Readers' Society, we make reading engaging by integrating hands-on activities like arts and crafts, movement, and games that tie into the books we explore. By blending creativity with learning, we aim to inspire a love of reading in every child and help them develop crucial literacy skills in an interactive and enjoyable way.
What we do

While volunteering at a local after-school program in their neighborhood, founders Sophia Hsu and Jagger Price noticed many children showing a disinterest in reading. That's what led them to start the Young Readers Society, an organization dedicated to making reading more accessible and enjoyable for young children.
A core part of the Young Readers Society's mission is collecting and distributing new and second-hand children’s books to families across London and around the world. These books are bundled into themed reading packages, helping to spark a love for reading in children who might not otherwise have access to books at home.
The Young Readers Society partners with George Eliot Primary School to support young readers aged 5 to 7, building confidence through engaging read-aloud sessions and creative craft activities.
Our Impact
The Young Readers Society has supported children across 4+ continents and distributed thousands of books in the form of reading kits. We currently have 35+ volunteers across the world.
Among the communities impacted, we have supported 40+ low-income classrooms in North Carolina with our reading kits, in collaboration with OurKidsRead, with support from Scholastic. We continue to reach low-income classrooms across the world by donating reading kits on a regular basis.

Storytime Online
Every week, Storytime Online brings kids together on Zoom to hear a new story read aloud by one of our volunteers. It’s a simple way to enjoy books, especially for families whose routines don’t always leave time for reading aloud at home. Whether it's bedtime or a quiet afternoon, we're here with a story.
